St. Thomas Cathedral Basilica (San Thome Church) - Live Mass

St Thomas Cathedral Basilica, known as San Thome Church, stands in the Mylapore district of Chennai over what tradition holds to be the tomb of Thomas the Apostle. First built by the Portuguese in the sixteenth century and rebuilt by the British in Gothic Revival style in 1896, its white spire is a landmark of the Tamil Nadu coast. Pope Pius XII raised it to minor basilica in 1956, and it was declared a national shrine in 2004 - one of only a few churches worldwide built over an apostle's grave.
