Namyang Holy Mother's Shrine (Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Namyang)

Namyang Holy Mother's Shrine, in the hills of Hwaseong south of Seoul, is South Korea's first officially designated Marian shrine, proclaimed in 1991 to honour Catholics martyred during the 1866 Byeongin persecution. Its centrepiece is the Grand Cathedral, a soaring twin-towered church designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta and completed in 2020, set among rosary-prayer gardens on Rosary Hill. Administered by the Diocese of Suwon, the shrine draws pilgrims from across Asia. Its resident priest broadcasts the shrine's daily and Sunday Masses live on YouTube, letting the faithful join the liturgy from anywhere.
