The Church of Saint John the Evangelist is a historic Gothic Revival parish in Center City Philadelphia, a short walk from City Hall. Completed and consecrated in 1832, it served as the pro-cathedral of the Diocese of Philadelphia from 1838 to 1864 and hosted the United States premiere of Mozart's Requiem in 1834. Today the parish is a busy downtown church known for daily Masses, confessions and devotions to local saints John Neumann and Katharine Drexel. It live-streams its Sunday Mass, and other liturgies, on its parish YouTube channel for worshippers unable to attend in person.
