The Basilica of Notre-Dame-des-Victoires stands in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris, a minor basilica founded in 1629 by Discalced Augustinians and named by King Louis XIII after his 1628 victory at La Rochelle. Completed in the French classical style around 1740, it became a major Marian pilgrimage site after the Archconfraternity of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was established there in 1836; its walls are famously covered with tens of thousands of votive plaques.
