Live Mass at Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi - Assisi

The Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi is the mother church of the Franciscan Order and the burial place of St Francis, whose tomb lies in the crypt. Begun in 1228, two years after the saint's death, and consecrated in 1253, it comprises an Upper and Lower Church renowned for fresco cycles by Giotto, Cimabue and the Sienese masters. Rising above Assisi in Umbria, central Italy, the basilica is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Christianity's foremost pilgrimage destinations.
