Catedral Basílica Metropolitana Santa María La Antigua

The Catedral Basílica Metropolitana Santa María La Antigua is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Panamá, standing on the Plaza de la Catedral in the historic Casco Antiguo of Panama City. Completed in 1796 with twin bell towers inlaid with mother-of-pearl, it is one of Central America's most important colonial cathedrals and was restored ahead of Panama hosting World Youth Day. Its Sunday and weekday Masses are live-streamed on YouTube, letting Panamanians abroad and homebound parishioners across the country join the Eucharist. The cathedral remains an active parish and a national landmark at the heart of the old city.
